Fun-to-Mime

Have you ever wondered what it was like to be silent and in box? Then you might want to learn more about miming. Miming has been around for a while, it can be done on stage and even on the street. The word mime comes from the word pantomime, which means to express a meaning through gestures. Mimes usually wear tight black clothing.People may get creeped out by mimes because of their dark clothing, yet the mimes just want to make people laugh and have a good time.
One of the first things you should notice about mimes is how expressive that they are. They’re trying to show or tell a story to you, so they have to very expressive. They can use their face and their whole body. Have you ever seen a mime trapped in a box? You’ll see that their mouths are probably open like they’re shocked or worried. Just by reading that you can picture it in your mind. Mimes can make it seem like they’re standing against a lamp post, and then it really makes you want to picture them standing next to one. They really can act out anything that they want,  there’s not really a set rule of what to do when you’re miming. I guess you could say that the unsaid rule of miming is not to speak.
You will more than likely see a mime wearing a striped shirt. Like the mime in the picture, it’s very common. Black pants are usually worn as well as gloves. The face paint they wear accentuate their eyebrows and mouth. The eyebrows are thinly painted over the white face paint. The mouth can be painted with black or red, it really doesn’t matter which one you choose. Some famous mimes have distinctive looks so you can tell it’s them. The famous mimers, Marcel Marceau, his face paint has long wings on the sides with round blotches underneath his eyes.

Miming is something that everyone can enjoy. Mimes do what they do because they have a passion for it. Mimes wear dark clothes, but that doesn't mean that their hearts are dark. When they get into character, all that they really want is for people to smile. Maybe you could try it out, stand in front of a mirror and practice your facial expressions. Think of something to act out, it could be eating a super sloppy hamburger or it could be chasing a runaway dog.
